WHAT IS CHUTNEY?

A sweet and spicy condiment of chopped fruits or vegetables, originating in India.  There are many types of chutneys, Pear, Mango, Peach, Apple, Blueberry, and the list goes on.  Chutneys can be used on the side to accompany curry dishes or with cold meats much the same way as you would use pickles or herb jellies.   It is especially delicious to toss a spoon or two of your favorite chutney into a meatloaf or meatballs just for a flavor change. Chutney can be used with roast pork instead of apple sauce, with lamb instead of mint jelly, with turkey instead of cranberry sauce, with chicken nuggets instead of ketchup or sweet and sour, with ham instead of mustard, with egg rolls instead of duck sauce.  Also great on sandwiches with leftover cold roast meats, meatloaf or chicken.  It can be used as a glaze for grilling just about all types of meats.  A simple but elegant appetizer when spooned over cream cheese and served with your favorite crackers or cocktail bread slices.

OUR NAME.

Our "Pear Chutney" originated in our front yard.  The lone pear tree on our farm in Pungo, Virginia produced an abundant crop.  We used the fruit to make chutney for family and friends.  IT WAS A HUGE HIT!   Our patriarch, a 4 Star Admiral, suggested we bottle and offer it to the public.  And So The Story Goes.

NEW PRODUCTS.

In August of 2012, we introduced "Pear Chutney BBQ Sauce" - a secret we've been keeping for some time!  We are thrilled that it has been well received and shortly after release, was recognized by the 2013 Scovie Awards - First place, BBQ Division, Fruit Based Mild.  Quite an honor for us.
